Eva Longoria had previously described the United States as “dystopian” after Donald Trump won the election and announced that she was moving with her family.
During a taping of ‘The View: Behind the Table’ podcast on Friday, Longoria unexpectedly called her friend, ‘The View’ co-host Ana Navarro. After Navarro answered the call, Longoria stated, “Will you please let them know I didn’t move out of Spain because of [Donald] Trump?” Navarro added that Longoria “had moved before Trump” was re-elected in the 2024 election earlier this month.
“I’ve been in Europe working for almost three years,” Longoria explained. “By the way, the [Marie Claire] article says that. People just grabbed some clickbait stuff to be divisive, which makes me so sad, you know. Everything you say is just meant to be divisive when we can’t be that way right now.”
Longoria went on to clarify her decision to leave the U.S., saying, “Yeah, I mean being away from the constant 24-hour news cycle puts you in a bit of a bubble, for sure,” Longoria responded, clarifying that she left the U.S. for work: “That’s why I’m in Europe. I didn’t leave because of the political environment. I left because my work took me there.”
In an interview with Marie Claire earlier this week, the former ‘Desperate Housewives’ actress gave several reasons outlined several reasons why she moved with her family from the U.S. “I’m privileged,” Longoria said. “I get to escape and go somewhere. Most Americans aren’t so lucky. They’re going to be stuck in this dystopian country, and my anxiety and sadness is for them.”
