The historical drama series ‘Vikings‘ is coming to an end; its final episodes from season 6 will have its premiere on December 30.
The news regarding the final of the show was delivered through multiple channels and sources. Actor Katheryn Winnick, who is currently portraying ‘Lagertha,’ ‘Ragnar’s first wife, announced the release date on her verified Instagram account. She posted an art designed for the series last season and wrote alongside it:
“Final Season of Vikings. Dec 30th. Couldn’t be more proud of this incredible series and all the talented cast and crew who gave it their all to get this to your screens! #Vikings”
As for Michael Hirst, the creator, screenwriter, and executive producer of the series said in a press statement:
“Our monumental Vikings saga is coming to its conclusion, but not before you’ve had to chance to watch some of my all-time favorite episodes.”
The latest episodes from the new season, consisting of 20 episodes, will be released through Amazon Prime before the History channel. Regarding that, Hirst said that Amazon Prime Video will exclusively submit the episodes to the streaming audience first, in the United States, United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, and Austria. He added:
“Prepare to be astonished, and for many surprises along the way. And if you have tears to shed, then also be prepared to shed them.”
Actually, the 6th season of the series, based on legendary Viking hero Ragnar Lothbrok, premiered on the History Channel on December 4. In total 10 episodes will continue to be released through the channel, while the other 10 episodes will be aired by Amazon.
