Florence Pugh couldn’t join her ‘Dune: Part 2’ co-stars, such as Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya, because she was busy with Marvel’s ‘Thunderbolts.’ Despite this, she had a reason to celebrate as she and her ‘Oppenheimer’ team won Best Ensemble in a Drama Film at the SAG Awards the night before.
Speaking about her packed schedule and referring to the filming of ‘Thunderbolts,’ Pugh said:
“I feel so — I mean — honored that I’ve been able to basically do the most bizarre press tour for both movies at the same time and I’ve just started my next movie. But I managed to squeeze this one in, so I feel very grateful that I’ve managed to juggle all of them at the same time.”
‘Thunderbolts’ dives into the story of Bucky Barnes, played by Sebastian Stan, who leads a group of antiheroes on government missions. The movie sees characters from ‘Black Widow’, including Pugh, David Harbour, Olga Kurylenko, and Rachel Weisz, coming back.
Marvel’s Phase Five And Six Schedule Has Been Shaky
Despite a production journey that pushed the upcoming film’s release to 2025, recently, there’s been a positive update. ‘Thunderbolts’ will hit theaters sooner than expected, now set for May 2, 2025, instead of July.
Originally, the film was aiming for a December 2024 release but faced a few bumps, changing the date a couple of times. It’s now marking the end of the MCU’s Phase Five, right after ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ and ‘Captain America: Brave New World’.
Phase Six is around the corner, starting with ‘The Fantastic Four,’ featuring Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. It’s part of a lineup that includes ‘Blade,’ ‘Avengers 5,’ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars.’
