BIFA Award-winning actor Florence Pugh jumped into her verified Instagram account the other day to unveil a couple of hidden details regarding the most-known scene of the film ‘Midsommar‘ where ‘Dani’ becomes May Queen.
The young actor who captured media attention with her relationship with well-known actor and filmmaker Zach Braff, released a behind-the-scenes photo from the table scene, and listed the fun facts; she began:
“Everyone was sitting on a pair of sunglasses because the mirror’d table was so blinding we had to preserve our eyes in between takes. In fact, some people started insisting that their character would wear them in the scene because the table was so bright.”
Then the star stated that all the food on the table was real and “by day three of shooting this scene was rotten and stank like vomit.” The 25-year-old continued to refer to the film was shot in Hungary in the summer:
“It was so hot in Hungary that summer that under the tables are sets of umbrellas to shield everyone from over heating in between takes.”
Even though all these negatives, Pugh expressed that her co-stars were incredible and concluded her words as follows:
“Midsommar was one of those weird, crazy, manic, exhausting but beautiful projects that still make me shocked and amazed that we did what we did.”
As known, ‘Midsommar,’ written and directed by Ari Aster, was released on July 3, 2019. The folk horror film, starring Jack Reynor, William Jackson Harper, Vilhelm Blomgren, Ellora Torchia, Archie Madekwe, and Will Poulter alongside Pugh was praised by critics both for Aster’s direction and Pugh’s performance.
