Frank Grillo Confirms He Was Almost Fired By Marvel For Leaking Inside Info

Grillo’s Marvel debut as villainous Brock Rumlow/Crossbones came in 2014’s ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier.’

Frank Grillo appeared as the Hydra agent in three MCU films and the ‘What If…?’ series but almost lost his job in this ten-year period due to the studio’s strict secrecy rules.

The actor recently joined ComicBook to talk about his new film, ‘Long Gone Heroes,’ and his upcoming DC gig as Rick Flag Sr. He avoided spilling any details about his new character during the chat, recalling how Marvel nearly fired him for leaking inside info.

“You know, unfortunately, there’s nothing I can really say that wouldn’t get me in trouble. So, I kind of have to step back and go, ‘I take the fifth,’” Grillo told the outlet. “I am so bad at this. Like, Marvel almost fired me 36 f*cking times because I don’t know. I never want to lie. And so, I do that a little too much. But I’ve been warned.”

Frank Grillo will play Rick Flag Sr. in ‘Peacemaker’ Season 2 and in ‘Superman’ after voicing him for ‘Creature Commandos.’ The upcoming animated series will be the first project in DC Universe, led by James Gunn and Peter Safran.

The lineup will feature characters such as Doctor Phosphorus, Frankenstein, G.I. Robot, and Weasel, all with a storyline separate from Gunn’s previous work on ‘Guardians of the Galaxy.’

“[Guardians are] all really good characters at their heart, and that just isn’t necessarily the case with the creatures,” Gunn explained to Entertainment Weekly last week.

‘Creature Commandos’ will hit Max on December 5, 2024.
