According to TV Insider, The CW Network recently announced the green light for ‘Sherlock & Daughter,’ a new series that stars David Thewlis, who is known for his role as Remus Lupin in the ‘Harry Potter’ movies, as Sherlock Holmes.
Expanding The CW’s original programming lineup, ‘Sherlock & Daughter’ is set to offer fans a mystery thriller. As per TV Insider, the series introduces Sherlock Holmes in a scenario where his usual confidence is shaken, finding himself in a position where pursuing a sinister case threatens the well-being of his closest allies.
The plot thickens with the introduction of Amelia, portrayed by Blu Hunt, a young American woman struggling with her mother’s mysterious death. The twist? She suspects the absent father she’s never known could be Sherlock Holmes himself. Despite their contrasting backgrounds, Sherlock and Amelia join forces to unravel her mother’s murder and the truth about her lineage.
Dougray Scott also joins the series as Moriarty. Interestingly, the series makes no mention of Dr. John Watson, Sherlock’s traditional companion.
When Will ‘Sherlock & Daughter’ Be Released?
‘Sherlock & Daughter’ is a collaborative effort brought to life by Starlings Television Distribution, Albion Television, and StoryFirst. James Duff takes the helm as the showrunner and executive producer alongside creator, writer, and executive producer Brendan Foley.
The series also benefits from the creative inputs of writers Micah War Dog Wright and Shelly Goldstein, with Karine Martin, Chris Philip, Peter Gerwe, Dominic Barlow, and Ivan Dunleavy overseeing the project as executive producers. As of now, production details and release schedules are yet to be announced.
Brad Schwartz, President of Entertainment at The CW Network, stated that the team did a great job on the series, and there are two game shows on the way:
“The entire cast and creative team have done a magnificent job putting a new twist on the classic character. And because we also need things only a Sherlock can solve, we are looking forward to welcoming two great game shows to The CW in ‘Trivial Pursuit’ and ‘Scrabble,’ which will bring prime time game night to the whole family.”
Meanwhile, Thewlis is currently engaged in multiple high-profile projects, including roles in the film ‘Littlemouth,’ in the ‘Avatar’ film series as Peylak, and Hades in Netflix’s ‘Kaos.’
