A New York Times article recently reported that George Clooney and Brad Pitt received $35 million each for their parts in Jon Watts’ ‘Wolfs.’ Clooney cleared the air about the claims in a press conference for the film’s Venice Film Festival premiere last week (per THR).
“[It was], an interesting article and whatever her source was for our salary, it is millions and millions and millions of dollars less than what was reported. And I am only saying that because I think it’s bad for our industry if that’s what people think is the standard bearer for salaries,” the actor said. “I think that’s terrible; it’ll make it impossible to make films.”
Clooney also explained that both he and Pitt had to give some of their salaries back after a theatrical deal for the film fell through and changed plans to a limited release in only a few hundred theaters.
Despite the setbacks, Apple reportedly secured a deal with Jon Watts for a ‘Wolfs’ sequel though Clooney and Pitt’s involvement in it is unclear.
‘Wolfs’ will hit the theaters across the U.S. on September 20, followed by its streaming debut on Apple TV+ on September 27.
