The cast of the musical comedy-drama television series, ‘Glee‘ announced that they are starting to raise money in honor of the late actor, Naya Rivera, who passed away due to accidental drowning, on July 8, 2020.
The actors of the series, Dianna Agron, Heather Morris, Chord Overstreet, Jenna Ushkowitz, Kevin McHale, and Matthew Morrison teamed up to launch SNIXXMAS Charity Drive to benefit Alexandria House, which is the organization “providing safe supportive housing for women and children in the process of moving from emergency shelter to permanent housing.”
Actors had made a video, which was released through YouTube on December 3, to talk about the event. The video started with Kevin McHale, portraying ‘Artie’ in series:
“As the holiday season approaches we can’t help but reflect on the year that’s passed.”
Then Jenna Ushkowitz, playing ‘Tina,’ continued to read the fundraiser’s description:
“And this year the thing we’re thinking about most is our incredible friend Naya and the wonderful memories she’s left us with.”
What’s more, the fundraiser was also announced through the actors’ verified Instagram account. Matthew Morrison, best known for his role as ‘Will Schuester’ in the series, shared the related GoFundMe page and wrote alongside it:
“Let’s cherish the beautiful giving spirit of our friend Naya Rivera. We started a GoFundMe to raise funds for Naya’s favorite charity, Alexandria House in Los Angeles. Please help us give to those in need this holiday season.”
According to the GoFundMe page, Rivera herself was a contributor to Alexandria House; the late actor had a 4-year-old son Josey Hollis Dorsey, said regarding the charity:
“The connection I feel with Alexandria House and the people who reside and work there has been the biggest blessing and made such a huge positive impact on myself and my son. We truly have found a home away from home through the time we spend volunteering there.”
