Glen Powell Opens Doors For Superhero Career: ‘It’s Either MCU Or DC’

The actor praised the two companies and showed interest in working with both of them.

Glen Powell recently joined an interview with The Playlist for his new film, ‘Twisters,’ and reflected on his growing career. He also shared his interest in playing a superhero or a villain in the future.

“You know, I’ve never gotten a call from DC or Marvel,” the actor confirmed. “But I’m a fan of everything they do.”

He continued, “I just saw ‘Deadpool & Wolverine.’ I freaking had a blast. I think what Shawn Levy and Ryan Reynolds did with that is extraordinary and just such a fun flavor for audiences. And I cheer for them, and I love what [they do.]”

‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ came out on July 26 and featured several returning Marvel heroes like Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool, Aaron Stanford’s Pyro, Dafne Keen’s X-23, and Jennifer Garner’s Elektra. The film broke a box office record, making the biggest opening for an R-rated film in the US and Canada during its first weekend.

Meanwhile, DC’s first live-action project in the new DC Universe, ‘Superman,’ finished filming. James Gunn and Peter Safran are currently working on rebooting the rest of the superhero universe with new actors.

“I think James Gunn, Peter Safran, and what they’re doing at DC – I think it’s going to be really, really good for that business,” Powell said during The Playlist chat. “So, it’s like, yeah, I cheer them all on. I’m a big fan of the movies.”

The ‘Twisters’ actor mentioned in the past that he didn’t audition to play the DCU’s new Superman, although he was on set with David Corenswet when he got the role.

“I was always a Batman guy,” he told GQ in May. “I would have a wild take on Batman. It definitely would not be like a Matt Reeves tone – it’d probably be closer to [Michael] Keaton.”

Gunn and Safran are still searching for an actor to play Batman in ‘The Brave and the Bold,’ which will also introduce Damian Wayne as Robin. Meanwhile, Matt Reeves’ ‘The Batman’ universe is continuing separately with Robert Pattinson in the lead role.

The upcoming project will begin filming in April 2025 at Warner Bros. Studios in Leavesden, England, with a release date of October 2, 2026.
