Three-time Golden Globe winner actress Glenn Close turned back to the days she portrayed ‘Cruella de Vil’ in comedy-adventure film ‘101 Dalmatians’ and suited up like the characters with the help of “home materials.”
Close, who was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy for playing ‘Cruella de Vil’ which is characterized with black & white hair, red gloves, and a long cigarette holder, shared a series of photos and a video of herself in the said homemade costume and added a caption that reads:
“Suiting up for BETTE MIDLER’S virtual HOCUS HALLOWEEN fundraiser for her remarkable NEW YORK RESTORATION PROJECT. I’ll be sure to post an invitation when I can. These pictures and video were shot by Seonaid “Sho” Campbell.”
The actress also shared the material list for the do-it-yourself ‘Cruella de Vil’ costume:
“HOMEMADE CRUELLA:
Chopstick painted red = cigarette holder.
Wig—online
Red gloves with black nails = black gloves with nails under red gloves with cut off tips
Leopard scarf=silk long Johns
Dalmatian puppy ears= local Halloween store
Coat = wardrobe from my movie The Wife
Makeup: Didn’t have a really pale base so I tried baby powder. Looks weird on the side of my face. Not a rousing success. Also needed a liquid eyeliner…next time.”
The live-action adaptation of Walt Disney’s 1961 animated film of the same name, ‘101 Dalmatians’ starring Glenn Close, Jeff Daniels, Joely Richardson, Joan Plowright, Hugh Laurie, Mark Williams, and Tim McInnerny was first released in 1996. The character Close portrayed became a pop-culture icon and a symbol of evil.
