According to an Instagram post by ArrowverseCanaries, Grant Gustin recently expressed his openness to reprise his role as The Flash but under one condition: an invitation from DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn.
During an interaction with fans, Gustin shared his views on a potential return as The Flash:
“Yeah, if James Gunn asked me to play The Flash, I would do it. I trust James Gunn.”
Currently, DCU is undergoing changes, with familiar faces from the previous iteration stepping away from their roles, such as Ben Affleck (Batman), Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman), Jason Momoa (Aquaman), Ezra Miller (The Flash), Henry Cavill (Superman), and Ray Fisher (Cyborg).
Gustin Said He Misses Flash
Speaking to The A.V. Club for another interview, Gustin reflected on the personal and professional growth he experienced throughout the show’s run, implying he missed that feeling:
“The people, I did it for nearly 10 years. I was 23 when that show started and 33 when the show ended, and grew up, learned a lot of who I was, and just matured a lot throughout the process, and was surrounded by cast and crew that became family. I mean, it’s so cliché, but it’s true. I spent so much more time with all of those people than I did with anyone who was my actual family during those years. And it’s weird to just suddenly end and know that we’ll never all be in the same room at the same time again.”
Originally cast for a brief appearance on ‘Arrow,’ Gustin’s portrayal of Barry Allen led him to be a part of a standalone series. ‘The Flash’ premiered on October 7, 2014, and enjoyed a successful nine-season run until May 24, 2023. As of now, it remains available for streaming on Netflix.
