Gained international recognition for portraying ‘Dr. Amelia Shepherd‘ on one of the most-known medical dramas ‘Grey’s Anatomy‘ wished her fans and followers a happy World Down Syndrome Day with an adorable Instagram post the other day.
On March 22, the mother of three posted a photo of herself with her sweet daughter Pippa who was born with Down syndrome and expressed how much she loves her. Alongside the selfie that sees the mother and daughter smiling big, the actor who has become an outspoken advocate for children with cognitive disabilities wrote:
“When this little soul was born to me, she placed her tiny hands over my eyes and taught me to stop looking and finally see.”
Scorsone who received Quincy Jones Exceptional Advocacy Award from the Global Down Syndrome Foundation, then added:
“Happy World Down Syndrome Day. 💛💙❤️”
As fans might remember, back in October, the star, who filed for divorce last year after ten years of marriage, told off the moments she first cradled her little baby in 2016, during her interview with PEOPLE Magazine:
“I looked at the tiny baby who would grow into my funny, stubborn, beautiful little Pippa, and I saw how limited my life had been until that moment. How small and contracted. In that moment, the triplicate 21st chromosome that gave her those beautiful, dancing crescent-moon eyes became a tiny skeleton key.”
Following Scorsone’s adorable post, her industry friends including her ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ co-stars Sarah Drew and Kelly McCreary, and ‘Snowpiercer’ star Mickey Sumner flooded the comments section with comments full of love. Head this way to view the post and read out the rest of the comments.
