James Gunn took to his Instagram on December 30 to mark a milestone for a special man in his directing career.
Gunn, best known for his directorial works in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy‘ series, ‘Slither,’ and ‘The Suicide Squad,’ celebrated well-known director and producer Lloyd Kaufman‘s 75th birthday with a tribute he shared through Instagram.
The 54-year-old filmmaker posted a series of TBT photos of him with Kaufman, most of which sees them together at film sets. Along with the photos, Gunn wrote the following message as a caption:
“Happy 75th Birthday (holy crap!) to @unclelloydkaufman, the man who gave me my start in the film industry“
Then the famous director began to tell the story of how he had started to work in the film industry. According to what Gunn stated in the caption section, Kaufman, known for his films ‘The Toxic Avenger’ and ‘Tromeo and Juliet,’ hired him to work for him at 1996 transgressive black comedy film:
“A week or so before he turned 50 – which means this is also the 25th anniversary of our friendship (and my 25th year making movies).”
The executive producer of ‘Avengers’ franchise concluded his words by praising his “mentor” as follows:
“He has remained a stalwart friend and mentor after all these years. I love you, Lloyd – can’t wait to celebrate again in another 25 years!“
A shortly after Gunn had released the never-seen-before photos with the abovementioned note, a great number of fans flooded the comment section and expressed that they have not any idea of that friendship before.
