H.E.R., a well-known singer and songwriter who gained further recognition after creating the soundtrack for the multiple award-winning film ‘Judas and the Black Messiah,’ revealed during her recent interview with Entertainment Tonight that working with The Obamas on the upcoming series ‘We The People’ is a life-changing experience for her.
As fans might know, the singer, songwriter and recent actor, born Gabriella Sarmiento Wilson, is appearing in the animated series, which will be released through Netflix, as a lead actor alongside Adam Lambert, Cordae, Janelle Monáe, Brandi Carlile, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Bebe Rexha, KYLE, Andra Day and Amanda Gorman.
Regarding working with Barack and Michelle Obama for the series created by Chris Nee and directed by Peter Ramsey, H.E.R stated:
“It was more exciting more than anything, it made me really want to, you know, kill it just because of them being attached and them being a part of it.”
The singer and songwriter, who received a Grammy Award for Song of the Year for ‘I Can’t Breathe,’ and the Academy Award for Best Original Song for ‘Fight For You,’ continued
“It’s like, wow, you know, I am a part of something that the Obamas did. It’s kind of life-changing, you know?”
The upcoming animated show, which is consisting of 10 episodes and focused on basic U.S. civics lessons, was produced by The Obamas. According to the singer, the project “is going to empower people.”
