Harrison Ford says the only reason he agreed to join MCU is because he needs money.
Ford told Variety he wasn’t too excited about the motion capture work needed for the role. He said he took the job because he is ‘an idiot for money’:
“What did it take? It took not caring. It took being an idiot for money, which I’ve done before.”
Ford said he still enjoyed playing the part. He completed the motion capture work because he saw it as necessary, and he felt it was worth it when he saw the positive reactions to the movie’s trailer:
“I don’t mean to disparage it. I’m just saying you have to do certain things that normally your mother would not want you to do — or your acting coach if you had one. But it’s fun, and I enjoyed it. I had a great time, and I’m delighted at the response that we got with the trailer.”
Ford is joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Thunderbolt Ross. He will play Ross in the upcoming ‘Captain America: Brave New World.’ His character will turn into the Red Hulk in the movie.
He Thinks MCU is Different From His Previous Work
Ford also talked about how the MCU is different from his other famous roles in ‘Star Wars’ and ‘Indiana Jones.’ He thinks the MCU allows for more imagination and creativity:
“It’s a whole different cut of cloth, isn’t it? Free of some normal constraints to the imagination. It’s delightful to deal with and it’s fun. The people I worked with were fantastic. The director, Julius Onah, did a terrific job. Mr. Anthony Mackie is great fun to work with. We had a good time. I enjoyed it.”
Ford will also appear as Thunderbolt Ross in another MCU movie called ‘Thunderbolts*.’ It will be released on May 2, 2025. This role was originally played by William Hurt, who appeared in several MCU movies before he passed away in 2022.
‘Captain America: Brave New World’ comes out on February 14, 2025.
