In the ‘Harry Potter’ movies, Rupert Grint played Ron Weasley and Afshan Azad played Padma Patil. Azad posted a photo on Instagram with Grint, comparing it to an old picture from their time in the series to show their changes over the years. She wrote in the caption:
“Padma & Ron reunited after 20+ years. Oh, how parenthood has changed us all. PS He’s still not asked me to dance.”
Grint played Ron in five ‘Harry Potter’ movies from 2005 to 2011, while Azad debuted as Padma in 2005’s ‘Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.’ In the film, Padma was Ron’s Yule Ball date, where things didn’t go smoothly after he didn’t ask her to dance despite inviting her.
A New ‘Harry Potter’ TV Series Is In The Works
The ‘Harry Potter’ franchise is coming back, but without Grint, Azad, and other original stars. HBO is developing a reboot series with new actors for the roles. There’s a possibility original actors could appear as different characters to honor the old movies. Daniel Radcliffe hinted that the original cast might not join to let the new actors shine. He told E! News:
“Like the rest of the world, [I’m] very excited to watch as an audience member.”
The actor also talked about his possible involvement:
“I don’t think so…I think they very wisely want to [have] a clean break. And I don’t know if it would work to have us do anything in it.”
The TV series reboot was announced in 2021. This year, it was confirmed for release on HBO Max in 2026, not just Max. The cast for the series hasn’t been announced yet, so we’ll have to wait to see who will play Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Padma Patil.
