Headwriter Jeff Trammell and Supervising Director Mel Zwyer discussed the creation of the new Spider-Man animated program, ‘Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man,’ on the Official Marvel Podcast on YouTube.
When asked if any characters or decisions were changed after the casting choices, the response was as follows: “I think there’s a certain level of swagger that Norman Osborn was always going to have, but Colman Domingo, you know, just takes it to another level. He’s so great, and he really understands who Norman is. His performances are all so late in that way.”
“It’s not easy to step into a role that has had so many people before you—same for Hudson and the same for everyone on the show. But to like carve out your own way, to make the character feel unique and really leave your thumbprint on them—Colman does that for sure, in my opinion, with Norman. So many other people in our show do that, and I’m just excited for people to hear them because they really take it to the next level.”
Brad Winderbaum mentioned before that the idea to cast Colman Domingo as Norman Osborn came from Jeff Trammell. He said, “The character is such a rich and complicated mentor for Peter, so we really needed an actor who could deliver many different dimensions. You can see in his work that he’s so multifaceted. I can’t wait for the world to see his version of Norman.”
‘Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man’ will be released soon. The show will follow Peter Parker’s early days as a superhero in an alternate timeline, where Norman Osborn becomes his mentor instead of Tony Stark. Hudson Thames will voice Parker.
