Henry Cavill Proves He’s The Only One To Replace Hugh Jackman As Wolverine

Cavill’s performance in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ made many believe he could be the next Wolverine in the MCU.

Henry Cavill surprised fans with his cameo in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ as a Wolverine variant called ‘The Cavillerine.’

In the movie, Deadpool searches the Multiverse for another version of Logan. When Deadpool meets Cavill’s Wolverine, he jokes that Marvel Studios will treat Cavill better than his previous experiences with Warner Bros. and DC.

Cavill shared the first official picture of himself as The Cavillerine on Instagram. This got fans quite excited about seeing Cavill as Wolverine if Hugh Jackman decides to step down. His ‘Deadpool’ cameo might be just a one-time appearance, but many hope to see Cavill continue as Wolverine in the future.

He wrote the following in the caption:

“To be safe, I shaved the moustache off for this one. Just the moustache.”

There were rumors about Cavill being part of ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ even before it came out. However, seeing him as a different version of Wolverine was still a big surprise for many fans.

Cavill Got Sick In The Set

Making this cameo wasn’t easy behind the scenes. Director Shawn Levy and Ryan Reynolds came up with the idea while writing the movie. They thought it would be great to see Cavill as The Cavillerine, especially after some problems Cavill had with Warner Bros. and DC. Cavill quickly agreed to the role.

Filming the scene was tough for Cavill. He had to smoke a cigar for hours, which made him feel sick. Despite this, he stayed professional and did a great job. As Levy recalls:

“Henry did enjoy that day, though I remember he was so committed and jacked up… and he had that disgusting cigar in his mouth for hours. He was fully in it. I think he might have gotten sick to his stomach if memory serves. It was a combination of oxygenated muscles and no actual oxygen going up into his nose. He was a trooper and he was fabulous.”

‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is now showing in theaters.
