Henry Cavill’s Confession About Sex Scenes Might Disappoint Fans

He believes they can be overused and not always helpful to the story.

During a recent appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Henry Cavill expressed his thoughts on the sex scenes in movies, and his stance may surprise his fans.

Joined by Matthew Vaughn, who’s directed his latest film, ‘Argylle,’ Cavill shared his views on the ‘spicy’ scenes, arguing that while they can sometimes enhance a story, they seem to be unnecessary additions in the end:

“There are circumstances where a sex scene actually is beneficial to a movie, rather than just the audience … [but] I think sometimes they’re overused these days. It’s when you have a sense that you’re going, ‘Is this really necessary, or is it just people with less clothing on?’ That’s when you start to get more uncomfortable, and you’re thinking, ‘There’s not a performance here. There’s not a piece which is going to carry through to the rest of the movie.'”

He Once Got Aroused During a Scene

During a 2015 interview with Men’s Fitness, Cavill recounted an embarrassing moment he faced while filming a sex scene:

“It’s only happened to me once, and it was very embarrassing. A girl had to be on top of me; she had spectacular breasts, and I hadn’t rearranged my — stuff into a harmless position. She’s basically rubbing herself all over me, and, um, it got a bit hard.”

He then added that this was an unprofessional moment, which isn’t acceptable. Afterward, he revealed that the spicy scenes aren’t that much ‘spicy’ but rather uncomfortable:

“It’s actually acutely uncomfortable being naked in a roomful of people. The very last thing it is is sexy. The actual physicality is very uncomfortable. All you’re doing is smacking your nuts against someone, and nothing is going in.”

Cavill Has a Long-Term Relationship

Off-screen, Cavill has been in a steady relationship with Natalie Viscuso for over two years, with the couple making their public debut on Instagram in April 2021. They have since been spotted together at various high-profile events, including the premieres of ‘Enola Holmes 2’ and ‘Argylle.’

‘Argylle,’ Cavill’s latest project directed by Vaughn, premiered in London on January 24, 2024. However, it has faced criticism for its plot and lengthy runtime and received negative reviews on Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic. Despite its lackluster reception, there are plans to expand ‘Argylle’ into a franchise, with a prequel and additional sequels already in the pipeline.

Looking ahead, Cavill has five projects on the horizon, including ‘The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare,’ ‘Highlander,’ ‘The Rosie Project,’ ‘Squadron 42,’ and an untitled action movie directed by Guy Ritchie.
