Hollywood stars took their social media handles in order to pay tribute to the Rock legend, Eddie Van Halen who passed away after a long battle with cancer on Tuesday.
The well-known actor, comedian, and filmmaker Adam Sandler one of the first to offer condolences. He posted a photo of the guitar virtuoso, and added a note that reads:
“Terrible day for all. The favorite guitar player of our generation! Such a great guy. Funny as hell and a no doubt genius at what he did. Paved the way for so many. Will be missed terribly. Love to his family!! RIP EDDIE”
The television host, comedian, writer Jimmy Kimmel also shared a message on Twitter for the main songwriter and lead guitarist of ‘Van Halen.’
“Two of the best hours of my life were spent chatting with Eddie Van Halen. A great musician, yes – also a funny and lovely guy who will be missed terribly. Sending love to Janie, Wolf, Alex & all those who loved him.”
As for Robert Downey Jr., posted an image of ‘Van Halen’ logo alongside the following message written in short:
“No words… @eddievanhalen @vanhalen #EVH #rip #legend #guitar #hero”
Mark Hamill, best known for portraying ‘Luke Skywalker’ in the ‘Star Wars’ film series took to Twitter and honored Van Halen’s memory:
“So sorry for your tragic loss @WolfVanHalen, but take solace in knowing that he will be long remembered and live on forever as one of Rock’s most extraordinary guitar virtuosos. Condolences to you, Valerie @Wolfiesmom and the entire Van Halen family.#RIPEdward”
George Takei, the ‘Star Trek’ star bid the legend goodbye with the following message he shared on Twitter:
“Rock and roll lost a great man today. Eddie Van Halen, your guitar was legendary, and your music will live on forever.”
Van Halen, who was battling throat cancer for more than five years, passed away from the illness at Saint John’s Health Center in Santa Monica, California on October 6, 2020, when he was just 65.
