Academy and Emmy Award-winning Viola Davis posted a photo from ‘The Depression Project’ and expressed her thoughts and feelings regarding mental health, and the impact of the racism on it.
‘How to Get Away with Murder’ star took Instagram on June 12 and mentioned it is hard to be mentally stable in these painful days:
“Mental Health is our “silent” crisis. There is no shame in speaking out and seeking help.”
The first black thespian to achieve the Triple Crown of Acting, continued her statement as follows:
“I myself suffer from anxiety and there is much stigma when you are not perceived as a ‘strong’ Black woman.”
The 54-year-old actress concluded her words by encouraging her followers to accept themselves as they are:
“But….let’s redefine strength…as vulnerability, authenticity and the courage to say, “I’m hurting“. Let’s rethink saying, “Thick skin”. When it’s thick, nothing can get in but nothing can come out. With love….❤❤❤”
