In Mental Health Awareness Month, Ryan Reynolds opened up about his lifelong struggle with anxiety.
In order to get candid about the tough experience, the ‘Deadpool‘ actor jumped into his verified social media accounts on May 26. Reynolds posted an image bearing a lengthy passage revealing he has been struggling with anxiety for a quite long period. The Marvel star began his message by clarifying the reason for sharing the post; according to what he stated in her message, he “overscheduled” himself because of “his lifelong pal, anxiety.” He continued:
“I know I’m not alone and more importantly, to all those like me who overschedule, overthink, overwork, over-worry and over everything, please know you’re not alone. We don’t talk enough about mental health and don’t do enough to destigmatize talking about it. But, as with this post, better late than never, I hope…“
On Instagram, as soon as the Golden Globe-nominated star released the post, his industry friends including Kerry Washington, jumped into the comments in order to thank him for encouraging a lot of people to think about the issue. As for, ‘X-Men‘ star, Hugh Jackman was quick to respond to his actor fellow.
Jackman, who has been friends with Reynolds since the two met on the set of the superhero film ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’ in 2019, left the following message to show his endless support:
“Mate – your honesty is not only brave but, I’m positive will help countless others who struggle with anxiety too. Good on you!”
As fans might remember, Reynolds stated during an interview with the New York Times that he has always had anxiety. At that time, he added:
“Both in the lighthearted ‘I’m anxious about this’ kind of thing, and I’ve been to the depths of the darker end of the spectrum, which is not fun.”
