Hulk Hogan faced a negative reception during his appearance on Netflix’s ‘Monday Night Raw’ broadcast on January 6.
Hogan, whose participation in the event had been rumored, entered the arena about two and a half hours into the show to his classic theme song, Real American. Hogan took to the stage with Jimmy Hart to introduce the Real American Beer brand and celebrate WWE’s partnership with the streaming giant. But, instead of cheers, he was met with a chorus of boos from the audience.
“In the past, I’ve had a whole bunch of partners down the line,” Hogan said during his appearance. “I had incredible partners, like the Macho Man Randy Savage. I’ve had giant-sized partners like Andre the Giant. But the greatest partner the WWE has ever had, is the fact that tonight, we’re making history, and the WWE has tag teamed up with Netflix, the greatest tag team partner of all time.”
A member of the audience shared a video of Hogan’s entrance on X, writing, “Watching Hulk Hogan get annihilated with boos while trying to sell his ripoff Bud Light beer was effing IN-CREDIBLE. And I grew up a Hulkamaniac.”
Hogan’s reputation has plummeted in recent years. The controversy began in 2015: a leaked tape from 2007 showed Hogan using a racial slur. The WWE then removed him from their Hall of Fame, and he was reinstated in 2018.
Hogan has also received criticism for his support of President-elect Donald Trump.
