‘I’m Heartbroken’: MCU’s Tim Blake Nelson Reflects On Missing A Chance To Be In ‘Dune: Part Two’

Nelson’s scenes didn’t make it into the movie. He feels heartbroken but is ready for more opportunities.

Speaking to MovieWeb in a recent interview, MCU veteran Tim Blake Nelson opened up about his cut role from ‘Dune: Part Two,’ admitting this hurt him a lot.

Despite his anticipated return as The Leader in next year’s ‘Captain America: Brave New World,’ Nelson’s venture into ‘Dune 2’ was unfortunately left on the editing room floor. As it appears, this was a decision that has left the actor pretty sad:

“I don’t think I’m at liberty to say what the scene was. I’d leave that to Denis [Villeneuve] if he wants to talk about it. I had a great time over there shooting it. And then he had to cut it because he thought the movie was too long. And I am heartbroken over that, but there are no hard feelings. I loved it, and I can’t wait to do something else with him, and we certainly plan to do that.”

Directed by Denis Villeneuve, the sequel to the 2021 adaptation of Frank Herbert’s classic has been praised for its visuals and faithful narrative. Sadly, Nelson’s participation was reduced to a ‘Special Thanks’ credit alongside actor Stephen McKinley Henderson.

Nelson Will Return as The Leader in 2025

While ‘Dune: Part Two’ moves forward without him, Nelson’s career continues. He’ll make his return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as The Leader in ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ with the comic book version of the character.

In the interview, Nelson also touched upon his current project, ‘Asleep in My Palm.’ The film has started to draw comparisons to the works of John Steinbeck for its storytelling and social themes. Directed by Nelson’s son, Henry Nelson, the film is slated for release on March 19, 2024.

Meanwhile, ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ is scheduled to be released on February 14, 2025, as part of Phase Five of the MCU.
