According to ComingSoon.net, Christoph Waltz of ‘Inglourious Basterds’ is set to appear in a new remake of Bram Stoker’s ‘Dracula,’ but details about his role remain under wraps.
Titled ‘Dracula – A Love Tale,’ the film tells the origins of Count Dracula, exploring his transformation and the gothic romance between Prince Vladimir and his wife. Luc Besson, who is the director behind ‘The Fifth Element’ and ‘Lucy,’ takes the helm of this ‘big-budget’ reimagining. ComingSoon.net reports that Waltz is currently in talks to star in the movie.
Caleb Landry Jones, known for his role as Banshee in ‘X-Men: First Class,’ has been confirmed to star as Count Dracula. Jones’s casting puts him among a list of actors who have portrayed the vampire lord, including Bela Lugosi, Christopher Lee, and Gary Oldman. This role also marks a reunion with Besson following their collaboration on the revenge thriller ‘Dogman.’
What is the Release Date For ‘Dracula — A Love Tale’?
As of now, ‘Dracula – A Love Tale’ does not have a set release date. However, there are other details surfaced about the upcoming movie.
‘Dracula – A Love Tale’ is produced by EuropaCorp in collaboration with Luc Besson Productions, with Paris-based Kinology overseeing sales and distribution talks. Despite its big budget, which promises ‘epic and potentially spectacular set pieces,’ it is reported that the production costs will not surpass those of Besson’s ‘Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets.’
The narrative direction of the film focuses on themes of love, loss, and transformation, setting it apart from previous adaptations of Stoker’s horror classic.
