On The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Jacob Elordi recently shared his thoughts about stepping into the role of Frankenstein’s Monster in Guillermo Del Toro’s upcoming adaptation of ‘Frankenstein.’
During the conversation, Elordi expressed his excitement about joining the film after Andrew Garfield’s departure from the project:
“Yeah, I’m playing Frankenstein’s creature… for Guillermo, who is the God of monsters. He’s the kindest man, and he’s so sincere. He’s brilliant.”
This is Elordi’s first public comment since being confirmed for the role in a press release by Netflix.
Originally, the role was set to be played by Garfield, who was announced as part of the project alongside Oscar Isaac and Mia Goth in March 2023. However, early this year, Garfield had to step down from the project, leading to Elordi’s casting. Garfield’s departure left many fans disappointed and led to a mix of reactions online.
What Do We Know About Del Toro’s Frankenstein Adaptation?
Guillermo Del Toro’s ‘Frankenstein‘ has a cast that includes not only Elordi, Isaac, and Goth but also Christoph Waltz, Felix Kammerer, Lars Mikkelsen, David Bradley, and Christian Convery. Del Toro is both directing and writing the screenplay for the film, which aims to explore how monsters are perceived rather than what they actually are.
The project is a collaboration with Netflix, where Del Toro has previously enjoyed success with titles like ‘Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities’ and ‘Pinocchio.’
In addition to his role in ‘Frankenstein,’ Jacob Elordi has a lineup of projects, including ‘The Narrow Road to the Deep North,’ ‘Parallel,’ ‘On Swift Horses,’ and ‘Oh Canada.’ Andrew Garfield, meanwhile, is set to appear in ‘Brideshead Revisited,’ ‘We Live in Time,’ and ‘Voyagers.’
With filming scheduled to commence in February 2024, it’s currently unknown when ‘Frankenstein’ will be ready to release.
