In a recent appearance on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live,’ actor Jake Johnson shared his insights about being the voice of Peter Parker.
Johnson portrayed Peter B. Parker/Spider-Man in the 2018 animated film ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’ and its 2023 sequel. After these projects, his voice has become familiar in many households.
During the conversation, Johnson humorously recounted instances where his voice, rather than his face, was recognized by children:
“You know what happens, Jimmy? Every once in a while, I’ll be in a line, and I’ll see a little kid. I’ll say something like, ‘Yeah, two more of those,’ and I’ll see a little boy go [makes a shocked face.] And I’ll do the [shakes head], [saying], ‘You know my man, your parents don’t!'”
The actor then revealed that during the pandemic, he brought joy to many by leaving voicemails as Peter B. Parker for children:
“It’s a really fun thing doing voiceover because you can. During the pandemic, I would call and leave voicemail as Peter B. Parker so I could say to kids, ‘Hey, this is Peter! I’m here in Queens. We’re thinking of you!’ and then I could get videos, and kids were like, ‘Oh my God, Peter’s real!’ And if they see me, they’d be like, ‘No, he’s not real.'”

Johnson’s Upcoming Projects
Apart from his work in the Spider-Man series, Johnson has kept busy with other projects. In the same interview, he mentioned starting a podcast titled ‘We’re Here to Help’ with Gareth Reynolds during a strike, which seems to have been a creative outlet for him during that period.
Besides, Johnson is involved in the upcoming ‘Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse,‘ which is set for release in the near future. His voice work continues with a role in ‘Wildwood,‘ and he is taking on new challenges by directing himself in the movie ‘Self Reliance.’
