Jameela Jamil, the actor and radio presenter, went to her verified social media account the other day so as to share her tough experience with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome with the aim of raising awareness about the disease.
On July 5, Jamil, best known for portraying ‘Tahani Al-Jamil’ in the fan-favorite comedy series ‘The Good Place,’ shared a photo of her swollen ankle and added a lengthy message. She began:
“For any of you with this condition wondering how I’m managing this career with it, just know I’m doing it hobbling, swollen every day, in pain, grumpy, jealous of people who don’t have to do mental arithmetic and gymnastics before every decision, and taking frequent breaks to lie upside down to reduce swelling.”
In her message, Jamil, who gained millions of fans and followers through social media for her activism on body positivity and feminism, stated that she is no better at handling this condition than anyone and added that she is just stubborn to set on her own parameters for her life. She continued:
“Anyway, just wanted to check in and say hey, and remind you to keep going after your dreams. You never know what might happen? Just do it all carefully and without shame when it comes to self-preservation. You deserve all the care and rest in the world. You also deserve adventure. Set your own boundaries.”
Jamil, who has been suffering from this rare disorder for more than decades, concluded her message by saying that she is with all the survivors to live their best life.
As she always does, with the message, she inspired her fans and followers according to the comments she got after releasing the abovementioned post.
