British actress and radio presenter Jameela Jamil took to Instagram intending to prop up Kamala Harris, the first African American and the first Asian American to be chosen as running mate by Joe Biden.
Jamil, best known for her role in ‘The Good Place’ described Kamala Harris “a strong, smart, South Asian and Black woman” and stated that she would support Harris in the 2020 election. The actress wrote alongside a photo of Harris:
“I have not agreed with all of her previous policies, but I believe this has been a year of immense change and education for everyone, and I have more faith in her to change than any of the other men in the running. We have to believe in someone’s capacity to change, otherwise, it diminishes part of the point of activism. I look forward to seeing where she stands now on a lot of her Pre-2020 opinions.”
Jamil labeled the current situation as a “mess” and stated that she wanted Harris to be the hero the nation needs. Later the 34-year-old actress wrote by addressing Harris:
“May you bring more rights for healthcare for all, for the safety of trans people, for reproductive rights, prison reform, police reform, and please please get those poor children and their parents out of the cages at the fu**ing border.”
