Jameela Jamil Warns People Not To Purchase Diet Products: “Lockdown Is Not A Weight Loss Opportunity”

The first solo female Radio host of the BBC Radio 1 chart show, Jameela Jamil runs on encouraging people to make “right” choices.

Jamil, best known for her portrayal as ‘Tahani Al-Jamil’ on NBC’s ‘The Good Place,’ posted to her verified Instagram account a video of herself, in which she says the all the diet products such as milkshakes and teas are laxatives and captioned it with a lengthy message related her speech in the clip.

In her message, one of the most compelling voices in the entertainment industry urged her fans and followers not to purchase diet products while they are in lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic. She added that said products are being sold to them, because the producers know people are at home and using their phones more than usual.

As declared in the video, she repeated that most of the diet products are sneaky laxatives, and stressed that those are harmful to health, again and again.

“The people who advertise them don’t take them and are either naturally thin or use other methods. I have been asked for 10 years, as a naturally slim person to endorse these things, (and obviously was like “no, f*** off”) and it’s all a scam with serious life-long health issues that can occur as a result of taking them.”

According to what Jamil said in her message, about 24,000 people are hospitalized in the United States in a year, because of these products. Then the radio presenter concluded her words as follows:

LOCKDOWN IS NOT A WEIGHT LOSS OPPORTUNITY. It’s a moment of survival. That is all.”

This is not the only act Jamil took against the diet shakes and appetite suppressants. In 2019, Jamil started a petition titled “Stop celebrities promoting toxic diet products on social media” through change.org, and criticized the celebrities promoting diet products, including Cardi B and Kim Kardashian.
