A recent report suggested that filming for ‘Booster Gold’ was set for July and the lead role had already been secured. A fan asked James Gunn on social media to confirm whether the news was true:
“The rumor that ‘Booster Gold’ will be recorded on July 8th, true? Will it be the next big DCU series after ‘Peacemaker’ Season 2 or will it be Amanda Waller’s series?”
The director replied:
“Although we’re still working on Booster Gold, production isn’t imminent and that story/posting is completely false.”
Little Is Known About The Show
Another rumor had floated that Jody Hill might direct the new TV project. Gunn did not confirm this, yet he has mentioned that most DCU-based shows now have their creative teams in place.
A ‘Booster Gold’ film from director Greg Berlanti and writer Zack Stenz was discussed back in 2019 but never happened. Instead, DC Studios announced a TV show for Max in January 2023.
Fans Demanded To See Booster Gold On Screen
Gunn asked his followers last year which DCU character they most wanted to see on screen, and Booster topped the list. He tweeted at the time:
“Interestingly, Booster was the MOST requested character when I asked people on Mastodon what character they’d most like to see on screen. I’m not creating stories by public vote, but I found it fascinating nevertheless.”
Chris Pratt was often mentioned as a fan favorite for the role. The actor didn’t receive any offers but said he’d do it if James Gunn thought he fit the part.
New Phase, New Heroes For DCU
Booster Gold and his robot sidekick Skeets appeared in the ‘Smallville’ episode ‘Booster.’ Eric Martsolf and Ross Douglas played them, respectively. Donald Faison also portrayed the DC hero in the series finale of ‘Legends of Tomorrow.’
The DCU later got a fresh start under James Gunn and Peter Safran. David Corenswet is set to start the new phase as the titular character in ‘Superman’ on July 11, 2025. First glimpse of his new costume came in early May.
