Filmmaker James Gunn, best known for the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy‘ film series, proved that he is comfortable with remembering his previous works which did not go well.
On March 31, the well-known filmmaker updated his Instagram feed with a bunch of never-before-published behind-the-scene photos in order to mark the 15th release anniversary of the 2006 dated film ‘Slither.’ Alongside the photos, Gunn praised the cast and crew while making fun of the film’s low box office.
As known, the black comedy horror film starring Nathan Fillion, Elizabeth Banks, Gregg Henry, and Michael Rooker, was released on March 31, 2006, and earned $12 million on a $15 million budget. Referring to that, Gunn wrote regarding his directorial debut:
“My directorial debut Slither was released 15 years ago today to great reviews & about 12 dollars at the box office. I was lucky to be surrounded by so many people who became lifelong friends. And grateful to have so many industry fans of the film who would still hire me! 🙏”
Gunn was not the only one marking the 15th anniversary of the film which became a cult in a short time; Hollywood actor Elizabeth Banks who portrayed ‘Starla Grant‘ in the said film also wrote on Instagram:
“Well, 15 years quickly slithered right along, now didn’t it? From the mind of @jamesgunn this movie is a lesson to all to never cheat and especially don’t cheat in the woods where an extraterrestrial parasite slug could take over your mind and drive it around like a skin car.”
The actor concluded her caption in a hilarious way by referring to the film’s story:
“That’s just some obvious and quality advice. Now, to celebrate, join me in cracking open an ice-cold Mr. Pibb.”
