Reports from September suggested that a new DCU movie pairing up Bane and Deathstroke was in the early stages of development with the ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ writer Matthew Orton.
James Gunn, who remained silent on the news until recently, confirmed that Slade Wilson/Deathstroke was indeed a part of the DC Universe. Addressing a fan’s question on Threads about whether he had plans for the Batman villain, Gunn simply stated, “Yes and yes.”
A Bane and Deathstroke movie is not certain despite Gunn’s confirmation, though. Wilson might appear as a key antagonist in the ‘Teen Titans’ movie as well.
Further reports from September already raised doubts about whether Bane and Deathstroke would lead their own film or be featured in a supervillain ensemble, potentially leading to a ‘Secret Six’ movie.
Both Bane and Deathstroke are familiar faces on the big screen. Tom Hardy played Bane in Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Dark Knight Rises,’ while Joe Manganiello appeared as Deathstroke in the post-credits scene of ‘Justice League.’
The two actors previously showed interest in returning to their DC roles, but Hardy noted in October, “I don’t know if that’s for me. I did my run, let somebody else have a go.”
Looking ahead, Deathstroke and Bane could show up with new faces in ‘The Brave and the Bold.’ The upcoming feature will introduce the whole Bat-Family and center on Damian Wayne, according to the DC Executives, James Gunn and Peter Safran.
