In a recent update on Threads, James Gunn revealed the current status of ‘Peacemaker’s second season, specifically mentioning the season’s eighth episode as ‘a banger.’
When asked about the ongoing development of ‘Peacemaker,’ Gunn expressed a positive shift in his workload, saying:
“I was a sleepless ball of stress a few weeks ago, but now that I’m on PM2 8, prep is just rolling along and exciting, and everything is storyboarded for SL, I’m feeling pretty good.”
In response to another one of his followers, Gunn confirmed he made it to the Episode 8:
“Good, and I’m partway through episode 8, which is a banger.”
As of today, Gunn has reportedly written most of the new season. However, he did not specify the total number of episodes penned, leaving open the possibility of a non-chronological writing approach. As the first season consisted of 8 episodes, it’s possible he was talking about the season finale.
Latest Information About ‘Peacemaker’
The first season of ‘Peacemaker’ premiered on January 13, 2022. Praised for Cena’s performance and Gunn’s direction, it is the only DC Extended Universe (DCEU) television series and a continuation of the 2021 film ‘The Suicide Squad.’
The cast of the first season included Danielle Brooks, Jennifer Holland, Freddie Stroma, Steve Agee, Chukwudi Iwuji, and Robert Patrick. While the returning cast for Season 2 remains unconfirmed, Gunn has hinted at more connections within the DC universe. The first season’s finale had already surprised viewers with appearances from Ezra Miller and Jason Momoa.
The delay in the second season of ‘Peacemaker,’ initially put on hold in January 2023, was due to Gunn’s other commitments within the DCU. He confirmed that the series had not been canceled and that production would continue following the spin-off series ‘Waller,’ slated to precede ‘Superman: Legacy,’ scheduled for a July 11, 2025 release.
Not that long ago, Gunn stated that the second season was halfway done, with Cena claiming ‘what he says, usually he does.’
