James Gunn Reveals The Character Who Excites Him Most In Max’s ‘Creature Commandos’

Gunn announced the main character, who also excites him most, in the new animated series ‘Creature Commandos.’

In response to a fan question on Threads, James Gunn, the creative force behind the upcoming animated series ‘Creature Commandos,’ shared his excitement for a particular character in the series.

The DC Studios co-CEO and series creator singled out The Bride, voiced by Indira Varma of ‘Game of Thrones,’ as the character he is most excited to see:

“The Bride is something special; she’s the lead character in a lot of ways, but I love them all.”

According to Gunn’s remarks, The Bride will also be the central figure of the series.

‘Creature Commandos’ is set to be the first television series in the DC Universe (DCU) and part of its ‘Chapter One: Gods and Monsters.’ Produced by DC Studios and Warner Bros. Animation, the series is expected to premiere on the streaming service Max in late 2024. It features a team of monsters assembled by Amanda Waller, embarking on black ops missions.

The series has an impressive voice cast, including Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., David Harbour as Eric Frankenstein, Maria Bakalova as Princess Ilana Rostovic, Alan Tudyk as Doctor Phosphorus, Zoë Chao as Nina Mazursky, Sean Gunn as G.I. Robot/Weasel, and Steve Agee as John Economos, with Viola Davis reprising her role as Amanda Waller in animated form.

James Gunn not only created but also wrote all seven episodes of ‘Creature Commandos.’ With Gunn at the helm, the series is expected to offer a blend of action, character depth, and narrative innovation.
