James Gunn recently took to Threads to chat with fans and updated them about the much-awaited Season 2 of ‘Peacemaker.’
While talking about what’s next for the DCEU, Gunn mentioned that he’s gearing up to start shooting ‘Superman: Legacy’ in March 2025. In the midst of this, he also let slip that the new season of his 2022 superhero show was ‘over halfway written.’
‘Peacemaker’ is currently a priority for the filmmaker. Its Season 2 will be the next project after the rebooted ‘Superman’ is done, as he revealed:
“[I’m working on] just ‘PM’ season 2 right now while I prep ‘Legacy.'”
What To Expect From Season 2?
The specifics for Season 2 are still under wraps, but it’s expected to be different from the first one, which was part of the older DCEU setup, picking up after the events of ‘The Suicide Squad.’ Gunn has confirmed that the new episodes will be part of the new DCU’s first chapter.
Lead actor, John Cena, also talked about the show’s future in a chat with Variety, saying:
“[I] sure as hell had a fun time doing that. I know that James Gunn’s made some statements that we’re going in for Season 2, and what he says, usually he does.”
As for its premiere, it will take a while to arrive. Considering that ‘Peacemaker’ debuted in January 2022 and with Gunn’s ‘Superman’ project releasing in July 2025, it looks like the shooting for ‘Peacemaker’ Season 2 might start sometime in late 2025. This could mean a release sometime in early 2026.
