James Gunn shared a new update on the ‘Wonder Woman’ prequel series ‘Paradise Lost.’
A fan recently asked Gunn on Threads about his weekend plans, and the filmmaker said that he’s working on ‘Superman,’ ‘Creature Commandos,’ and ‘Peacemaker,’ and also reading scripts for ‘Paradise Lost.’ When asked about the series’ progress, Gunn simply replied, “Yes” to confirm there are drafts of the script.
Back in July 2024, Gunn also responded to a question about whether ‘Paradise Lost’ was in production. He said that the show was still in active development, noting, “Nothing is ‘in production’ unless it’s been greenlit. Right now that’s ‘Superman,’ ‘Supergirl,’ ‘Penguin,’ ‘Peacemaker,’ ‘Lanterns,’ and a handful of animated projects. ‘Paradise Lost’ will be in production once we have a script or scripts we think are great and ready to shoot, never before. As an aside, we aren’t officially cast on anything that isn’t greenlit.”
‘Paradise Lost’ will focus on Themyscira, the island home of the Amazons. It’s a society inhabited only by women, and men are banned. The show will take place before the birth of Wonder Woman, aka Diana Prince. Peter Safran described the series as a ‘Game of Thrones-type story’ and hinted that it will have themes like political intrigue, drama, and darkness.
The ‘Wonder Woman’ franchise’s future remains unclear after ‘Wonder Woman 3’ was canceled. Chris Pine, who played Steve Trevor in the previous ‘Wonder Woman’ films, previously said he’s quite surprised at the cancelation. He said he couldn’t understand why such a successful franchise was put on hold.
You can still stream ‘Wonder Woman’ on Netflix.
