James Gunn Teases ‘Batman & Superman’ Team Up

It will have a title as a nod to a famous comic series where the two heroes worked together.

DC Studios head James Gunn gave fans something to talk about by hinting at the title of a potential Batman and Superman team-up movie.

In a Labor Day post on his Instagram, Gunn shared an image of Batman, Superman, and Robin playing baseball. As per Comicbook.com, the caption read, ‘Have the World’s Finest Labor Day!’ This simple post quickly got fans hyped about the future of the DC Universe.

One fan asked Gunn what he would name a movie that focused only on Batman and Superman teaming up. Instead of picking between ‘Superman and Batman’ or ‘Batman and Superman,’ Gunn revealed that the film would be called ‘World’s Finest.’

James Gunn didn’t confirm that a ‘World’s Finest’ movie is officially in the works, but fans are hopeful. Many believe such a movie could fix the negative reception of ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,’ which was criticized for its dark and intense tone.

The title ‘World’s Finest’ has a long history with DC Comics. It first appeared in 1941 when DC published a comic book starring Batman and Superman. It later became a regular series where Batman and Superman often teamed up with Robin joining in the early issues.

Gunn’s upcoming Superman reboot is scheduled to release on July 12, 2025, and the new Batman movie ‘The Brave and the Bold’ is on the way.
