Following recent test screenings of ‘Superman’ reboot, reports said potential reshoots for the film were on the way. James Gunn explained the scale of additional filming on Threads.
Asked if the rumors are true, he wrote, “Sort of. Not a few days. We’re doing a day and a half of pickup shots. No scenes. No reshoots. Just a handful of individual shots to enhance the film.”
‘Superman’ plays a major role in DC Studios’ plans for the future by setting the tone and quality for Gunn and Peter Safran’s reimagined cinematic universe. The film stars David Corenswet as Clark Kent and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane.
Though, according to Safran, it doesn’t offer an origin story, the upcoming reboot explores Superman’s attempt at balancing his Kyrptonian heritage and human upbringing. “Superman represents truth, justice and the American way. He is kindness in a world that thinks of kindness as old fashioned,” the synopsis notes.
Gunn serves as writer and director for the film, which completed its principal photography in late July, and shows great trust in its quality as well as the cast’s acting.
He recently commented on Corenswet’s version of the DC hero, “Honestly, from the bottom of my heart, David Corenswet is going to freak everyone out with how great he is. He is one of the best actors I’ve ever worked with, and he can do everything. The man is incredible.”
‘Superman’ arrives in theaters on July 11, 2025.
