James Gunn’s Reaction To ’Superman’ Rumors Might Upset Fans

The new DCU film wrapped production earlier this summer.

James Gunn recently addressed rumors about the upcoming ‘Superman’ and the rebooted DC Universe, set to kick off next summer, on Threads. He denied talks that suggested Chumbawamba’s 1997 song ‘Tubthumping’ was played on the new live-action film’s set.

“There is also no truth to Tubthumping by Chumbawamba being played on the set of ‘Superman’ (this is a real rumor on Reddit someone just sent me!),” the director wrote after debunking Puck News’ report about a new video game based on Matt Reeves’ ‘The Batman.’

‘Superman’ will hit the theaters on July 11, 2025, and feature David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman. The cast will also include Rachel Brosnahan, Nicholas Hoult, Skyler Gisondo, Wendell Pierce, Sara Sampaio, Terence Rosemore, María Gabriela de Faría, Isabela Merced, Nathan Fillion, Edi Gathegi, and Anthony Carrigan.

The DC Universe will next introduce 2026’s ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow,’ followed by the undated ‘The Authority,’ ‘The Brave and the Bold,’ and ‘Swamp Thing.’

Ahead of the live-action releases, the animated ‘Creature Commandos’ show will open ‘Chapter One: Gods and Monsters’ in December 2024. The seven-episode Season 1 will air on Max.
