Another well-known name says farewell to fan-favorite medical series, ‘Grey’s Anatomy.’
After the exit of Giacomo Gianniotti, it is now official that Jesse Williams, portraying ‘Jackson Avery‘ for 11 seasons, is leaving the series. After the news was delivered, Williams’ co-stars took to their social media accounts to say goodbye to him.
As one of them, actor James Pickens Jr., best known for his role as ‘Dr. Richard Webber‘ the same series, went to his verified Instagram account on May 20, with a photo of himself with Williams. The actor, who also appeared in the science fiction series ‘The X-Files‘ as ‘Deputy Director Alvin Kersh,’ wrote the following note alongside the photo:
“It has been a joy to work together with this talented and thoughtful artist. Keep fighting the good fight, Jesse, not goodbye, will be seeing you soon, this I am sure of.”
Pickens’ post came after Williams’ last episode titled ‘Tradition‘ had been aired through ABC. Following the post, a great number of users of the photo-sharing platform expressed that they are not ready to have him leave the show.
As fans might remember, Williams previously declared his leaving during an interview with Variety. At that time, the young actor stated that he will be grateful for” the boundless opportunities provided” him by Shonda, his cast-mates and crew. He added:
“As an actor, director and person, I have been obscenely lucky to learn so much from so many and I thank our beautiful fans, who breathe so much energy and appreciation into our shared worlds. The experience and endurance born of creating nearly 300 hours of leading global television is a gift I’ll carry always.”
During the interview, he stated that he is immensely proud of working with dear friends and incredible crew members.
