Another tribute to Conan O’Brien, whose TBS show ‘Conan‘ has ended after 11 years, came from well-known Hollywood star James Van Der Beek.
On June 25, Van Der Beek jumped into his verified Instagram account and released three shots from the times he appeared as a guest in Conan O’Brien’s night talk show. He clarified the photos by saying that he was ever on the show three times in 29 years in the business.
Before leading a tribute to O’Brien, the actor pointed to the first photo of himself, in which he is seen wearing tinted glasses and made fun of himself; he began:
“At 21, I suddenly found myself on a hit show. I wanted so badly to seem cool. You can’t seem cool if you’re not. And wearing tinted glasses won’t fool anybody. Neither will tell three long, self-aggrandizing stories with mediocre punch lines your friends thought were funny in your dorm room. Even styling your hair like ‘The Claw’ won’t help.”
Stating that he waited for a 14-year to appear in the show twice, the ‘Dawson Creek‘ actor continued:
“So… Learned a few things, had some life happen, and when I finally went on again, he and Andy and I had a good laugh at my hair and shades. And he invited me back on again after that.”
James Van Der Beek then referred to O’Brien’s humor and concluded his message with the following words:
“Conan, at one point, got a raw deal in this business. But when he signed off of The Tonight Show – a job he should have had for longer – he urged his audience: ‘Don’t be cynical.’ I’ve always respected the hell out of him for that. Cynicism is easy. But it’s not good for you. Resist it.”
As known, since the latest episode of ‘Conan’ released back on June 24, a great number of people in the celeb world have been become sociable so as to praise the comedian and say farewell to the legendary show.
