The well-known actress Jane Fonda, who received countless awards including Academy Award, BAFTA Award, Golden Globe Award, Primetime Emmy Award, and the Honorary Golden Lion, released on Instagram an image of Michaela Coel and accoladed the series, ‘I May Destroy You.’
Regarding the HBO’s series, which also received praises from singer Adele the other day, Fonda wrote:
“I’ve never seen a show like “I May Destroy You” created by and starring Michaela Coel.”
The British comedy-drama television series was written, co-directed, and produced by actress Michaela Coel for BBC One and HBO. The ‘Book Club’ co-star continued:
“It is so interesting and nuanced that I haven’t seen the full first season (because only 7 episodes have aired) and have already watched all 7 of them 3 times to catch all the subtleties. Most of the a-ha moments are delivered with no dialogue and I’m finding that the meaning of a lot of scenes only dawns on you the next day.”
Then the 82-year-old actress recommended the series to her followers, and added the followings:
“It’s sexy, sensual, funny, and deeply moving, addressing issues of sexual assault and rape in a way that we’ve never seen before. Michaela is a deep talent, a true shapeshifter. Check it out in HBO.”
Apart from Fonda, the mentioned series has been praised numerous times for its brave and delicate story. Also, the leading actor, Michaela Coel was described as an “undeniable talent” by critics.
