Actor Jared Leto, who is set to portray Andy Warhol in an upcoming biopic, took to Instagram intending giving the news about a fund drive that was launched on the 20th anniversary of ‘Requiem for a Dream’ to help music people who suffer from addiction.
The crew of the film, including Leto, teamed up with MusiCares, the non-profit organization that provides “preventative, recovery, and emergency assistance to safeguard the well-being of music people in need.”
In order to urge his fans and the film lovers to contribute to the campaign, the actor & singer posted a series of photos wearing a specially designed 20th-anniversary shirt, adding the note that reads:
“It’s been 20 years since Requiem for a Dream was released – a movie that absolutely changed my life. Excited to launch our limited edition 20th anniversary shirt. All profits go to @musicares, benefiting addiction recovery for musicians #linkinbio #requiemforadream @darrenaronofsky @marlonwayans”
Regarding the 20th anniversary, director Darren Aronofsky also shared a post on his verified Instagram account alongside a fan-art ‘Requiem for a Dream’ poster:
“Can you believe it’s 20 years? new 4K release all polished up out today.”
As known, the movie based on the novel of the same name by Hubert Selby Jr., was released on October 6, 2000. Starring Ellen Burstyn, Jennifer Connelly, Marlon Wayans, and Christopher McDonald alongside Leto, garnered high praise from critics and viewers.
