During a recent appearance on Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast, Jeff Bridges talked about his CGI look in ‘Tron: Legacy.’
“It’s the new thing… I got scanned and in the computer for when we did ‘Tron 2’ — What was it called? — ‘Legacy,'” the actor replied when Horowitz asked about his digital likeness.
He continued, “I wasn’t particularly fond of that recreation of myself. I thought I looked more like Bill Maher than myself.”
After starring in the 1982 sci-fi movie ‘Tron,’ the actor returned as video game programmer Kevin Flynn in the 2010 sequel with Garrett Hedlund and Olivia Wilde.
The movie ‘Tron: Legacy,’ directed by Joseph Kosinski, continued the story of Kevin Flynn, who was pulled into a video game he created. A new movie, ‘Tron: Ares,’ is set to come out on October 10, 2025. It will star Jared Leto, Evan Peters, and Greta Lee, with a cameo from Bridges, as announced by Disney in May.
“Technology and AI is omnipresent in our lives,” Bridges talked about what fans can expect from the new film. “What a perfect time to revisit this world. Or, have this world visit us, because that’s what happens in this movie.”
“I’m heading off this Saturday to play a part in the third installment of the Tron story,” Bridges also said about his return in April. “Jared Leto is the star of this third one. I’m really anxious to work with him. I’ve admired his work.”
‘Tron: Legacy’ upset some fans because the noble character of Tron was not as heroic in the 2010 sequel. Instead of fighting for the users like in 1982, Tron was changed to be Clu’s servant, named Rinzler. Near the end, Rinzler realizes his mistake and sacrifices himself to help Kevin Flynn, Sam Flynn, and Quorra escape. It’s unclear how the original Tron and Boxleitner will fit into the upcoming ‘Tron: Ares.’
