Karl Urban’s Butcher walked into the night with his imaginary friend Kessler after killing Victoria Neuman (Claudia Doumit) at the end of ‘The Boys’ Season 4 finale. Eric Kripke confirmed that the show would return for a fifth and final season to resolve his and other characters’ plotlines.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan shared if he would reprise his role as Kessler in the upcoming episodes in a chat with Variety:
“I don’t know how you do Season 5 without an appearance, at least. That’s my feeling. I’ve never had any official talks about it, but I think it’d be really hard to carry on without some sort of resolution—and hopefully that’ll be a whole season!”
Morgan Wants To Share The Screen With Jensen Ackles
The last episode’s after-credits also teased the return of Morgan’s ‘Supernatural’ co-star Jensen Ackles. The scene showed that his Soldier Boy was in a frozen state and waiting to be revived all along.
Morgan said he wanted to reunite with Ackles in the new season now that the chance presented itself:
“I want to have scenes with everyone that’s part of that show, but I obviously have a long-standing relationship with Jensen, especially. He’s like my brother. And then Jim is one of the coolest people in the world—so yeah, of course.”
He added:
“Jensen’s Soldier Boy was one of the single greatest characters I’ve seen in television in a long, long time. His performance blew me away. I did want to work with him—and we also have a really good time together, the two of us, especially. And, obviously, that was a carrot in front of my face that I was chasing after, sure.”
The ‘Supernatural’ Team May Come Back Together In ‘The Boys’
There’s a chance to see Jared Padalecki join Jensen Ackles and Jeffrey Dean Morgan for a reunion in ‘The Boys’ Season 5. Eric Kripke teased the possibility in a June interview with Entertainment Weekly:
“The value of that is to break the internet. So we’ll see whether it’s right for the story. But yes, it’s occurred to me that putting those two in a scene together would destroy much of the world, and that’s appealing.”
Padalecki himself previously showed interest in appearing on the show alongside his ‘Supernatural’ co-stars by saying he wanted to work ‘with people that I really care about.’ It’s unclear who he might play in the Prime Video series, though.
