Actress Jemima Kirke, who played ‘Jessa Johansson’ on the television series ‘Girls,’ took to Instagram to raise her voice against police violence and brutality in the United States.
As known, a 29-year-old American black man, Jacob Blake was shot was from behind seven times by a police officer, on August 23. When he was shot, his children saw him. What’s more, it was announced that Blake was paralyzed from the waist down.
Concerning this issue, the actress wrote a lengthy message alongside a photo of Blake, on Instagram.
“To all the people who ever took a devils advocate stance against these incidents and thought something to the effect of ‘They must’ve had a reason to shoot/harm/kill’ you now have ANOTHER glaring example of a brutally unnecessary force that is so often used against black people by the police.”
Then Kirke stated there was nothing more dangerous than a testosterone-fueled white man with a gun, and added:
“This man was shot IN THE BACK. This means he was heading away from the officers and not posing any distinct threat. They chased him and shot him down. I’m not shocked. I continue to be in a state of disgust with this country. But while my stance used to be to reform the police it is now to totally defund them. A scared, testosterone-fueled white man with a gun is a dangerous thing and a direct threat to our freedom and humanity.”
Also, the actress turned off comments for this post, she explained her intention as follows:
“I’m turning off comments because I don’t want to give space to those of you who disagree with me. The first amendment, to my mind, was not for those who spit hate, racism, or start petty arguments. #jacobblake #blacklivesmatter”
