Jennifer Connelly Is Waiting For A Phone Call For ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ Sequel

A new ‘Top Gun’ sequel is currently in the works.

Jennifer Connelly is ready to reprise her role as Penny in ‘Top Gun 3.’ She told ET at the ‘Dark Matter’ premiere in Los Angeles on April 29:

“I’ll be there. I’m ready. We had such a great time shooting [‘Top Gun: Maverick’]. It was fun.”

Connelly wants to reunite with Tom Cruise, Glen Powell, and Miles Teller in the sequel but still has no script:

“I haven’t seen anything. I had a casual chat with my friend, Joe Kosinski, who directed it, who I worked with twice now. I’m his biggest fan. I think he’s so great. [I talked to him] about the possibility of it, but I don’t know anything concrete.”

The Team Wants To Return As Well

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer confirmed the plans for ‘Top Gun 3’ to People in March. He said:

“We pitched Tom [Cruise] a story he liked. But he’s a very in-demand actor and he’s got a lot of movies lined up, so we have to wait and see.”

Teller and Powell also showed interest in a comeback but noted that it was ‘all up to Tom.

News in January reported that ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ co-writer, Ehren Kruger, would return to write the script for the new film.
