Jeremy Renner, who suffered a snowplow accident in January 2023, has returned to work, Variety reports. When asked if his injuries posed any limitations, the actor quipped:
“I don’t think of it as limitations – even though I’m 25% titanium, so f-ck Iron Man.”
The accident occurred on January 1, 2023, at Renner’s remote mountain home in Nevada. He was attempting to clear snow from his driveway to ensure his family could come and go. Renner explained that he got off the machine, believing it was parked, but it began sliding toward his nephew. He ran to regain control but was instead run over by the machine.
Renner underwent extensive surgery and endured months of rehabilitation before regaining the ability to walk. While it’s unclear if a quarter of his body is truly titanium, he has previously discussed the metal plates, screws, and other parts used in his recovery.
The actor is best known for playing Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has shared harrowing details about the incident. Speaking to Jimmy Fallon, he described how his legs were “completely twisted” and one of his pupils “came out,” and that his “lung exploded”. He even tapped his left tibia during the interview, remarking, “This is metal. Half my face is metal. All the right side of my back is metal.”
Renner’s next feature film, ‘Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery,’ will mark his first role since the accident. The film is set to be released in the fall of 2025.
