Jeremy Renner announced that filming has begun for the fourth season of ‘Mayor of Kingstown’ in a Story shared on his Instagram account shortly after celebrating the anniversary of his survival. The actor said in his Story, “Mayor of Kingstown season 4 begins filming.”
‘Mayor of Kingstown’ is set in a fictional city that exists to support a nearby prison. Mike McLusky (Renner) is tasked with maintaining peace among various factions in the town, including gangs and the local police force. Addressing hot-button topics like racism and corruption, the show is a no-holds-barred look at the prison industrial complex in the United States.
Season 3 introduced a new group to the troubled streets of Kingstown, forcing Mike to confront the Russian mafia. It also marked a miraculous comeback for Renner, who had suffered a life-threatening injury in 2023 and faced a long hospitalization.
Renner was seriously injured when he was struck by a snowplow. Two years after the accident, he celebrated his 2nd ‘Rebirth Day.’ Reflecting on his return to work for ‘Mayor of Kingstown’ Season 3, the actor shared how challenging it was to resume acting after the accident.
He said, “They have to treat me like I’m a child actor. The Mayor of Kingstown is now like a 14-year-old.”
In Season 3, the shocking deaths of Iris (played by Emma Laird), Kareem (Michael Beach), and Milo (Aidan Gillen) significantly reduced the supporting cast. It is expected that a few new characters will be introduced in Season 4 to fill the gap.
The ending of ‘Mayor of Kingstown’ Season 3 was brutal and shocking, leaving the McLuskys in a precarious emotional state. Although the Russian problem was resolved, Mike’s actions have created a power vacuum, potentially inviting a new gang or criminal enterprise to town. Mike’s own alliances could put him in danger in Season 4, as his past decisions may come back to haunt him.
